Big news this summer was the retirement of Carol and Cheryl from Traditions Gallery at 2714 13th Avenue. Cheryl and Carol opened Traditions fourteen years ago with their little shop selling beautiful Saskatchewan craft. They were very supportive, active members of our current business association and great neighbours. They will be missed but we all wish them well in their new endeavours! We welcome the new owners of Traditions – The Saskatchewan Craft Council. The SCC already runs a gallery on Broadway Avenue in Saskatoon and holds annual sales of fine craft such as Wintergreen in Regina, Waterfront in Saskatoon and Handcraft in Battleford. The Saskatchewan Craft Council will fit very nicely into our eclectic neighbourhood. The store was recently closed for some renos and the grand re-opening was on Saturday, September 26.
We have another new addition to our street.... Chris from Buy the Book and his lovely wife Carolyn welcomed baby daughter Hattie on June 15th. Congrats to Chris, Carolyn and Hattie.
The current location of Groovy Mama in the ground floor of 3100 13th Avenue will be up for lease in late winter as the store will be moving down the block to 3206 13th Avenue. If you are interested in the retail space at 3100 13th. Avenue, or know anyone who may be, please contact the owner of the building, Corinne Willis This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
David from Bernard Callebaut Chocolates recently ran a Facebook group entitled “Cathedral Needs a Breakfast Place”. Within days the group had hundreds and hundreds of members and some very interesting discussion. We will wait to see (and hope) that it actually prompts someone to open a breakfast place, however it did already show some success - The Abbey Restaurant on Albert Street has begun serving breakfast every morning at 7:00 a.m. The Cathedral Village Business Association will once again be hosting “Christmas in the Village” to coincide with the CACA’s Annual Christmas Craft Sale on Saturday, November 21st. Watch for postcards and posters around the neighbourhood detailing all the times and events of the day! In closing, the Cathedral Village Business Association would like to extend sincere thanks to all of our friends and neighbours who supported us over the summer months during the street improvements on 13th Avenue. It was a tough go for some businesses and we really appreciate the support from the CACA and the people of Cathedral. Our local customers remind us every day why Cathedral is such a great place to live and work!
