Cathedral business news

Big news this summer was the retirement of Carol and Cheryl from Traditions Gallery at 2714 13th Avenue.  Cheryl and Carol opened Traditions fourteen years ago with their little shop selling beautiful Saskatchewan craft.  They were very supportive, active members of our current business association and great neighbours. They will be missed but we all wish them well in their new endeavours!

We welcome the new owners of Traditions – The Saskatchewan Craft Council.  The SCC already runs a gallery on Broadway Avenue in Saskatoon and holds annual sales of fine craft such as Wintergreen in Regina, Waterfront in Saskatoon and Handcraft in Battleford.  The Saskatchewan Craft Council will fit very nicely into our eclectic neighbourhood.  The store was recently closed for some renos and the grand re-opening was on Saturday, September 26.

The Cathedral Village Arts Festival is one visible example of creative collaboration, said Catherine Murray, a cultural policy expert from Simon Fraser University. However, developing a creative city requires a holistic city-wide vision.
